Media plays a huge part in the lives of everybody around me, including myself. Although not many people like to think about it, the world is evolving with its help at astonishing speed and we have entered a technological age. With the advance of these technologies, the media follows, not only in the form of the news, telling us the about the world and her problems, but also for our own entertainment as humans, to keep us happy and distracted. Okay, seriously now, enough trash talking
society, let's get back to my reasons for actually choosing the subject. As I have already mentioned, media is invested in my life already and, as someone who is very passionate about learning about society, I feel like I should also be interested in looking into one of the main features of it: the media. In the future, I would like to go into the advertising business and perhaps eventually work as an editor or alongside editors of magazines/newspapers to help promote businesses and help present the adverts themselves in an appealing way to the target audience. As well as this, I would like to work in the social media bubble and help target specific audiences with their intended adverts. As shown in the Netflix Documentary, 'The Great Hack', working in social media can be difficult and almost dangerous but I find society to be an interesting study point and the media plays a he role in it.
I took Media Studies for a GCSE as well and, because of that, it is another reason I wanted to continue it at A-Level. I really enjoyed learning about the different theories and the set texts and writing about how it influences an audience and it's opinions. As I would like to continue this as a career, Media Studies is a very important subject for me to take as it helps pave the way for the job(s) I would like to do in the future.
